Till Tuesday

Kept it quiet today, aside from morning pre school for the boy we were in and around the house. Tidying the kiddos rooms hence the pics- big clean out and some new things going up on the wall etc. Making rainbow badges for rainbow day tomorrow at nursery. Cooking tea, doing some searching for songs my music mad boy loves on Youtube and lots of dancing and playing. As ever a lovely wee day together.

Nordic Rainbow

The kiddos have a rainbow day this week at nursery and I was doing a wee bit of net searching for tops. This one from http://www.modeerskahuset.com/ is lovely and we may be making some purchases. Check out the range it is super lovely. Full of lovely stuff for boys and girls. The Scandinavian kids clothes are something to behold!

Welcome to the week

Wild Geese
You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting–
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.
--Mary Oliver, Dream Work

If I am down there is nothing like Mary Oliver's words to pick me up and I think this poem is particularly good at reminding me that there is more going on, a continuum that can sweep you up and make you feel part of something bigger.

I for one am feeling positive today and looking forward to what is coming up- I hope you are all well too. Lets get the week started.

Love Jo x

Till Tuesday

This is a 'Till Tuesday' with a bit of the weekend shoved in for good measure. As I have blogged before we have all been a bit poorly so I just didn't feel like doing a post at the weekend. I wondered if you did a straw poll of all UK Mama bloggers this last month- I bet kiddo sickness, bugs etc would feature highly. Anyway onwards and upwards!

We started with lovely fruit (vitamins!) on Saturday morning, then we got a new fence put up out back. As work went on all day we nipped off in the afternoon for the kiddos first trip around Glasgow's Clockwork Orange. The bubba hated it, witness the petrified wee face above- the boy on the other hand LOVED it!

We cooked some food for the week- with two wee helpers.

Tuesday we had a trip to Milngavie town centre and hit the Charity Shops. Top toy for the bubba by way of a Mystery Machine, an owl money box and a Royal Copenhagen Little Mermaid plate for me. The boy scored a cute wee Pingu purse but no photos allowed apparently!

My eye is trained for the particular shade of  Royal Copenhagen blue. Having had a Danish boyfriend  in the past and an amazing trip to Denmark for my 21st I have always loved all things Danish- a highlight was seeing the mermaid and this little plate was made for me. The fairytale is haunting- I have never forgotten the way she felt every step on land like sharp blades in the soles of her feet- a true reminder in a grim wee tale that Nothing comes without a price.

Finally we took Miss James from Bleubird Vintage's lead as usual and tried her homemade crayons- they were a big hit.

Anyway I hope you are all well and thank you again for reading.

My very best wishes Jo x

Comfort in a hug

Today this picture says how we have all been feeling here over the last wee while (bugs, sleepless nights, feeling poorly). This is called Comfort and I found it at the lovely Peonies and Polaroids, and its from here.

I love this image, there is nothing like a hug, with your partner, with your babies. It makes the world safer and smaller and more loving. Being a mother is complex, heartbreaking, and difficult at times- thank goodness a hug comes easy and works so well.

This made my Monday lots better, Jo xx

Till Tuesday

Now this all looks like an idyllic wee family day for me and the kiddos and well I suppose in a way it was- we were all together, we were warm and safe, in our cosy home........but were also all ill- snotty, coughy, achy and well grouchy, irritable and whingy. Them and also me by the end of the day! I seriously pulled out all the crafting I could muster, games and lots and lots of cuddles (and a lot of counting to ten, deep breath, cup of tea and time out for a harassed mum).

So all together now- BUGS BE GONE!!

1. Morning milk drinking hand holding.
2. Intravenous Coffee!
3. Potato print hearts.
4. Handmade kiddo Valentines.
5. See this picture- two dinners and lunch cooking all at the ONE TIME. Multi tasking fairy at work!
6. Thrifted plates from the weekend- washed and added to shelves.
7. Bumpsadaisy bear games.
8. New Hama.

Happy St Valentine

Happy Valentines day everyone. This is my other half's card for this year (he has still to get it so shhh). Its all the way from Pine Island Minnesota and is by Ali Blacker sold in her Etsy shop Miles to Go. It is called Red Hearted Tree.

I love the image, and think maybe that a teenage obsession with Wuthering Heights might have something to do with that....

Enjoy the day- a day celebrating love has gotta be a good thing!

Saturday Fun

Fed up with the weather we planned a day trip to the Museum of Rural Life on Saturday. Unfortunately though the wee boy seemed to have picked up a bug and developed a temperature while we were there. So the visit was cut a bit short but not before the bubba ran the length of the place relishing her freedom. I honestly couldn't catch a pic of her as she was NEVER still!

The Museum itself is a beautiful modern building and we liked the interactive focus on installations for kids. My favourite though was the petrol cap on the generator above. The weathered patina of years of use, has real soul don't you think. Or maybe I am just odd that way.......

So the boy is on the sofa bed under blankets and the winter bugs go on. One day soon it will be Spring I hope!

Donna's Den

My two kiddos love making dens. At one point we had three going on around the house. So my love of Donna Wilson and theirs of dens- well this lovely kit has everything going for it!

Seriously love this but we will make do with clothes horses and blankets for now I think!

Lottie Hall- LOVE

Bit of a departure for me this as I don't normally post lots of fashion but man I looooove this collection!

The gorgeous Lottie's partner was usher at D and I's wedding- Jock -a cooler bloke you could not hope to meet. Seriously.

This is Lottie's first collection and I spied it via FB and just had to post it. Just another reason why I wish we were back in Australia more these days!

Seriously coveting the knit skirt and sheer top and those two tone skinnies- well they take colour blocking to a new level.

Please re-post if you LOVE too and my Australian readers well you are the lucky ones!

Way to go Lottie- I am well and truly sold! Jxx

You can find Lottie here.

Thank goodness for tea!

Today I have just about lived on tea, some days I could quite happily do so. Don't worry I will make up for it tomorrow with plenty of fruit and veg. Comforting, delicious and well the chance to use yet another lovely mug. Hope you have all had a great Tuesday! Jx

The last wee while

Sometimes in seems that everyone has a lovely, lovely life and when yours is sad or rubbish or just plain monotonous (the chores, the tears, washing the floor for the 10th time!!) well looking back at a few sweet moments is a good, good thing. I guess that is why I keep writing. And thank you for your lovely comments- it means a lot to me that you read!

Some wee high points in maybe a not so bad week after all. Jxx

1. A cheeky one.
2. Plates from my great grandmother (my mum passed them onto me).
3. As above.
4. Noah's Ark (played with so much two glue jobs in a week).
5. Bubba's milk drinking wee feet.
